AN ONLINE concierge service using Twitter contact will be launched by CityJet on a pilot (ahem) basis on Monday afternoon.

Using the Twitter feed @cityjet it will be available for two hours a day from Monday to Friday and promises to offer tailor-made travel advice as well as “the inside track” on destinations across CityJet’s 17-strong route network which includes Paris, Florence, Amsterdam, Edinburgh and Dublin.

The airline says its Twitter feed will offer customer services information in real-time, which is nothing, but it claims that its Twitter Concierge service will be the first such system from an airline in Ireland or Britain.

It says it will help passengers with travel queries and help people reserve hotel rooms, restaurant tables and organise taxi pick-ups.

CityJet aims to turn around all requests within 15 minutes. The service will have a page on cityjet.com.

It is not the first company to launch an online concierge service. Two years ago the Hyatt Hotel chain in the US started one.
